DAILY ITINERARY

Day 1 – San Francisco, California

See the very best of the Golden State. Arrival to SFO Evening is at leisure to explore San Francisco. Overnight at the Holiday Inn Civic Center.

Day 2 – Sightseeing, Bay Cruise, Muir Woods

After breakfast, enjoy a morning sightseeing tour of San Francisco highlights. See Union Square, Chinatown and Nob Hill. Continue to Fishermans wharf for a cruise on San Francisco Bay. Then, head over the Golden Gate Bridge (Stop at the Golden Gate Bridge Overlook) for a visit to Muir Woods National Monument with it’s majestic Redwood Trees.
We will finish this day with a visit to Sausalito, the beautiful artists town by the water.

Day 3: Free day at leisure to enjoy San Francisco.  Overnight at the Holiday Inn Civic Center. 

Day 4 – Yosemite National Park

Head east this morning into the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Pass through the historic gold mining towns of the great California Gold Rush. Arrive at Yosemite National Park. Established in 1890, Yosemite’s 1,000 square mile park is an enduring legacy to the conservation efforts of naturalist John Muir, founder of the Sierra Club. See the wonders of Yosemite National Park. Look for waterfalls, including Yosemite Falls and Bridal veil Falls, and marvel at the two towering granite monoliths known as Half Dome and El Capitan.

Day 5:  Yosemite National Park

Day at leisure to explore Yosemite Park. Hike the nature trails through giant cedar, pine and fir trees or just simply relax in the splendor of Yosemite Park. Overnight at the magnificent Yosemite View Lodge in El Portal, riverview suites.

Day 6: Sequoia/Kings Canyon National National Park

Drive south through the San Joaquin Valley for a visit to Sequoia National Park. The park is famous for its giant sequoia trees, including the General Sherman tree, one of the largest trees on earth. The forest contains five out of the ten largest trees in the world.  Dinner at a local restaurant in Fresno and overnight at the Radisson Hotel.

Day 7- Hearst Castle and San Luis Obispo

This morning we head west over the Santa Lucia Coastal range to the town of Paso Robles, for a visit to one of the wineries in this region, which produces some of the top California wines.  We will have the opportunity to taste their wines and to tour the winery with one of their winemakers.  After a lunch stop we will contiue to San Simeon for a guided visit to Hearst Castle, the grandiose estate of publishing magnate William Randolph Hearst, which sits high above the ocean at San Simeon.  Overnight in San Luis Obispo wehre we can enjoy the wonderful Thursday night Farmers Market that takes up several blocks of downtown, with BBQ, entertainers, live music, and more.

Day 8– Carmel, 17-Mile Drive, Monterey

Today we will drive north to charming Carmel by the Sea and visit the beautifully restored Carmel Mission. We will also visit Seventeen Mile Drive. See delightful natural wonders, including Seal Rock and the Lone Cypress. Stop at the Pebble Beach Golf Course. Overnight in Monterey, where we will have time to walk along the oceanfront trail near Fisherman’s Wharf, where sea lions play and where we can savor a world famous clam chowder.  Overnight at the Portola Hotel.

Day 9 – Cannery Row and the Steinbeck Museum

This morning we will visit Cannery Row in Monterey where you  can stroll around the quaint shopt or opt to participate in an optional excursions to the Monterey Bay Aquarium (not included) .  See coastal marine life in the Aquarium’s 1.3 million gallon giant kelp tank. Look for sharks, stingrays, jellyfish, starfish, and sea otters.  After some free time for lunch, we will drive to Salinas for a visit to the Steinbeck Center, an enlightening journey to the famous author's life and connection to the area.  Farewell dinner at Fisherman's Wharf. Overnight at thet Portola Hotel.  

Day 10 - Transfer to the airport for flight back home
