Every year, ArawjoTours is challenged to put together a tour schedule that appeals both to longtime nomads and to newcomers.  Hopefully we have achieved our goal in the above schedule.  We remain committed to offering at least one South American trip per year, one Asian trip, several of the extremely popular one-city trips (denoted with a triple asterisk *** and featuring the amazingly successful New Year's Eve bashes), a core group of highly popular Mediterranean packages, and short trips to New York and Canada.  We have also added an exciting ten day package to Germany featuring the Oberammergau Passion Play, which takes place only once per decade, and a fascinating combination of Boston and the Azores. In the coming few months, these tours will gradually be fleshed out and described in fuller detail on the "2010 Tours" page of this website.  We have already begun accepting courtesy reservations on all of the trips listed above.  If you wish to join any of these tours, please just drop me a line.  We look forward to traveling with you in 2010!

Global Nomads Times
A World in Their Hands - Egypt
Last Update: October 12, 2008:

Dear Fellow Travelers--

After many weeks of doom and gloom news regarding our economy, I felt compelled to send all of you a brief message that at least focuses on some positive trends that either are occurring or are likely to occur in the world of travel over the next 12-24 months.  I know that most of you are Nomads who enjoy exploring other countries but who have been very discouraged by shrinking retirement savings, increased costs for food and other necessities and outrageous hikes in air fares and fuel surcharges.  Rest assured that we in the travel industry hate these trends as much as you and are equally desperate for some rays of relief.  But I believe that some glimmers of light are already clearly present.  Based on 13 years in the travel industry, here is how I see it:

 1. The US dollar is now worth 12 cents more than the Canadian Dollar (first time since June, 2007);  it
now trades at $1.36 per the euro (first time since Aug. 2007) and is now up by 25 cents relative to
the British Pound (first time since April, 2006 -- over two years ago!!!).  Yes, we are hurting at home.
But if you  have the means, now is actually a good time to travel abroad if you look at it from the
     perspective of exchange rates.

2.  Three years ago or so, fuel surcharges for international carriers really didn't exist.  But we have all
swallowed the bitter pill of their inexorable rise that has coincided with the ridiculous and outrageous
increase in oil prices from $40.00 per barrel to about $150.00 a barrel at its high in a very short period
of time.  Although airlines are much less likely to be quick to reduce their increased charges with
the same rapidity with which they increased them, it is VERY likely that with oil costs now much lower,
it will be increasing difficult for the airlines to legitimately sustain such charges.  But international
carriers are reasonably cautious.  If, however, fuel costs do continue to stabilize or drop, we are very
likely to see decreased rates for airlines ticket in the next 12-24 months.

3.  Group pricing still represents potentially excellent value.  I have had to work harder than ever before
to secure contracts and package rates that continue to be attractive, but with very low overhead and
impeccable credit and no need for further business loans, ArawjoTours can pass on savings to you
that cannot be offered by other high end companies like AAA, Collette, Perillo, Trafalgar, etc. Your
loyalty and early enrollments in tours (often one year in advance or more) makes it much easier for
me to secure rates both for air and land arrangements that are really quite outstanding.

Lovers of travel take heart:  There is some good news out there to focus on when it comes to global trekking.  But sometimes the fog of pessimism can cloud the sparks of hope that really do exist.

Confirmation letters have now been sent out for the following 2009 tours:  Springtime in London (not on web site), Wonders of Egypt, and Northern Portugal and Madeira Island.  If you are currently signed up for one of these tours, please be sure to submit your deposit by the due date indicated on your confirmation letter.

ArawjoTours at the movies?  At the end of this summer, ArawjoTours will be supporting the 19th Street Theatre (Civic Theatre) in Allentown by advertising for twenty weeks on its silver screen.  Ads will appear during the half hour before the beginning of a movie and will be repeated at least five times prior to the show.  The 19th Street Theatre is a cultural icon in the Lehigh Valley, offering the best of Indy films and live theatre performances.  It is a non-profit organization that relies heavily on donations from individuals and businesses for its continued survival.  We at ArawjoTours believe that the work of the 19th Street Theatre is consistent with our philosophy of promoting international awareness through cross-cultural experiences.  Foreign films are one way to bring thoughtful and diverse human experiences to viewers throughout the Lehigh Valley area.  If for whatever reason you are unable to travel the world, the world can be brought to you.  We'd love your feedback on this initiative.  Contact us at arawjotours@aol.com with your thoughts.

GLOBAL NOMADS BUDDY PROGRAM:  The popular Nomads Buddy Program is now going to be offered indefinitely.  So what is the program and how does it work?  The GNBP is a non-retroactive promotional program designed to bring new nomads into our travel family while rewarding existing nomads for their recruitment efforts.  An existing nomad will be awarded $50.00 off his/her tour price if he/she brings a friend on an ArawjoTours trip. The maximum reduction per person will be $100.00, which will cover no more than two refferals per trip.  The GNBP can be repeated for subsequent trips.  In order to receive the reward, the new nomads must actually have gone on the same tour as the the person who made the referral.  They must also be entirely new to ArawjoTours, meaning that they have never gone on a trip before with the Global Nomads.  Awards will not be offered for sign-ups that lead to tour cancelations.  Good luck!  If you have any questions about the plan, please drop me a line. (Important note: This program no longer applies for tours that are less than $1000.00 per person.)
